What a year!
As the year draws to a close, it's time to reflect on the incredible journey that has unfolded over the past months. 2023 has been a pivotal year for me, marked by significant achievements in my art career and the exciting establishment of my first business venture.
The year kicked off with a relentless focus on my art school endeavors. Days and nights were dedicated to creating a standout portfolio and the challenging task of preparing for the all-important exam piece. The hard work paid off, culminating in a successful exam that not only validated my skills but also set the stage for the artistic direction that lays ahead.
However, the summer months brought with them an unexpected drought — an artistic block that seemed insurmountable. The creative well ran dry, and inspiration seemed elusive. It was a trying period, but sometimes, the most significant breakthroughs emerge from the depths of struggle.
Just when I thought the artistic doldrums might persist, a sudden burst of inspiration struck like lightning after a lighthearted conversation with my Dad. The idea was already there but this spark ignited the will to continue the Inheritance Series, a body of work that not only broke through the creative block but also became a testament to resilience and artistic growth. The series resonated with a profound personal connection, reflecting themes of heritage and legacy.
I took a bold step forward and established my first business. Becoming a part-time entrepreneur was a dream I hadn't envisioned at the start of the year, but it quickly became a reality. The business aimed to not only showcase my artwork but also serve as a platform for community building and collaboration with highly skilled professionals, ensuring the production of top-notch digital prints.
The Inheritance Series did not remain confined to the studio. Fuelled by the desire to share my creations with the world, I embarked on the journey of organizing not one but two exhibitions. The process was a rollercoaster of emotions, from the meticulous planning to the thrill of unveiling the artworks to an eager audience. you can read more about it and watch the highlights video in my “FIRST” blog post.
The success of the first exhibition became a catalyst for even greater aspirations. One of these were the roundtable discussions taking place three times in late fall. You can read about them in the blog entry called “Resiliency Through Art”
The biggest achievement this year for me is the fact that I had a serious buyer for three pieces of the inheritance series within a week after the exhibition opening party and just yesterday I handed the paintings over. Their new location will be a psychologist’s office, which is the perfect place in exact correlation with the meaning of my work. It would be a great honor if they will helped future patients open up, understand and process their feelings and traumas easier through the language of visual arts. I wish to offer them a sense of empathy and compassion. A reassurance that they are not alone with their feelings, and it is possible to get better.
In the realm of art, collaboration is key. Working alongside highly skilled professionals, we delved into the intricacies of creating digital prints that truly captured the essence of my artistic vision. The fusion of creativity and technical knowledge resulted in products that exceeded expectations and laid the foundation for future collaborations.
Hereby I would like to thank Tamás from Pigmenta Art Print Lab’s team for his patience, flexibility and expertise, for guiding me through my first time ever professionally digitalizing my paintings.
As the year draws to a close, I find myself at the threshold of a new chapter. The lessons learned, the challenges overcome, and the triumphs celebrated have shaped not only my artistic journey but also my identity as an artist. The canvas of 2023 is now filled with a vibrant tapestry of experiences, and I eagerly anticipate the blank one that awaits in the coming year—a canvas ready to be painted with new aspirations, challenges, and successes.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all a Happy New Year!
