Watercolor and ink

Historically, watercolor (or aquarelle) technique was only used for sketches before they became and individual and fully accepted medium for fine art  during the 18thand 19th century.

Ink however dates back to ancient cultures and has tremendous significance in Middle-Eastern and Asian cultures. Chinese ink goes back as far as four millennia, similarly to Egyptian papyrus drawings and scripts.

They are both marvelous materials mainly used in illustrative paintings of botanicals, wildlife, and rural or urban scenes.
